Does the Council accept applications from outside NZ?

Yes we do. The Council is an accredited employer with Immigration NZ. This means that we can help the preferred candidate with their visa applications if they meet the job and immigration criteria.

What do I need to do if I have to move to NZ?

The Council partners with a number of relocation providers. If successful in obtaining a role, this information will be given to you as part of your offer. Please also view the relocation information provided on this site.

How long does the application process take?

Most process are completed within 4 weeks of the closing date, however this can vary depending on the number of applications received for the role.

How will I know if my application has been received?

You will receive an automatic email acknowledging receipt of your application. If you do not receive this please contact the Recruitment team. On some occasions, these emails are blocked by your SPAM filter. Please ensure you check this before contacting us.

Do I have to be living in Christchurch to apply?

No, the Council accepts applications and employs people from outside of New Zealand

How can I be sure my CV & letter are attached to my online application?

Once you have submitted an online application you can go back into My Applications and review the information provided and the documents you attached.

Do I have to apply online?

Due to the high volume of applications the Council receives it is our strong preference that all applications are submitted online.

What do I do if I don’t have internet access?

If you do not have access to the internet free access is available at any Christchurch City Library.
